In addition to the Xperia ray, Sony Ericsson has also introduced the Xperia active Android Smartphone which is targeted at users with an active lifestyle. It is one of the first Smartphone from the company’s Xperia line up to target outdoor enthusiasts and adventurous consumers.
It features a rugged design and powered by a 1GHz processor, there is a 320MB of internal memory and has a built-in microSD card slot to expand on its storage space. It comes equipped with a 3-inch touchscreen Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA engine and is protected by a scratch-free mineral glass. Its rugged design protects it from dust, and water under 1m for 30 minutes plus its touchscreen also supports wet finger tracking as well.
Other specifications of the Xperia active includes a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p HD recording, there is an FM radio with RDS, built-in GPS, digital compass, barometer, Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11n with DNLA media sharing support. The Xperia active comes with the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS plus it is also pre-loaded with a variety of apps for the sports enthusiasts including an app that enables user to track their fitness, on-screen heart rate monitor with ANT+ and a few accessories are also bundled in the package.
