Motorola has officially announced that its new BackFlip will be heading to AT&T on March 7th. As one of the Motorola’s Android phone, the Backlip includes the MOTOBLUR platform that helps consumers keep a pulse on what’s happening on their social and news networks.

The handset will be sold for $99.99 with a 2-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. As a reminder, the BackFlip offers a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, a full QWERTY keyboard, MotoBlur with social networking integration (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter), GPS, WiFi, a 3.5mm headset jack, a 1,500 mAh battery, Android 1.5 OS and supports HSDPA connectivity.

AT&T lowers its smartphone plans, too

After Verizon announced lower price, AT&T has announced that it’s changing up its smartphone plans, too.

All smartphone customers, including iPhone customers, may now buy unlimited voice and data for $99.99. For smartphone customers with Family Talk plans (prices assume 2 smartphones), unlimited voice and data is now available for $179.99. Texting plans remain unchanged at $20 for unlimited plans for individuals, $30 for Family Talk Plans.

Dell announced that U.S.-based AT&T will become the next mobile operator to offer a smart phone from the Mini 3 Android-based lineup. Over the past two months, Dell has established smart phone arrangements with leading mobile operators including the world’s largest, China Mobile, Claro in Brazil, and now AT&T with the nation’s fastest 3G network.

Dell has contact with and listens to the requirements of millions of customers. In addition, a recent Dell-sponsored study of more than 1,500 people provides keen insight into what makes the best smart phone and mobile experience. Study highlights include:

* Eighty-two percent of those who own smart phones said they would not leave home without them;
* Eighty-six percent of survey respondents under age 35 say that personalized software and features on smart phones are important;
* More than half say they wish there were more smart phone options available in the marketplace;
* Seventy-six percent say they would consider new smart phone devices from a well-known technology brand; and
* Nearly 90 percent say they would consider purchasing a smart phone from a highly regarded technology company as an alternative to leading smart phone manufacturers.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 coming to T-Mobile and AT&T?

We have word that Sony Ericsson’s flagship Android-powered smartphone, the Xperia X10 will not only be available on the AT&T Network but also via T-Mobile. This was indicated by two variants of the device being available, one which has support for the 1,700MHz UMTS HSPA band used by T-Mobile meanwhile the other model will have support for AT&T’s 850MHz UMTS HSPA band.

There is a leaked fact sheet which revealed the smartphones’ capabilities, it will be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor plus you will be able to enjoy Google’s Android 1.6 UI via its 4-inch capacitive touchscreen that has 480×854 resolution plus snap quality pictures with its 8.1-megapixel camera with its LED flash.

Other than the LG Shine II Slider, AT&T has also announced a new addition to its BlackBerry Smartphone line up, the BlackBerry Curve 8520. It features a 2.64-inch LCD display, a 2 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and WiFi, GPS Navigation, a full QWERTY Keyboard and powered by a 512 MHz processor.

The Blackberry Curve 8520 has 256MB of Flash memory and a media player that supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV9 video and common audio files. The 8520 Curve will be available at AT&T retailers in the coming week for $99.99 after mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract.
