Blackberry Colt SmartphoneAccording to a post I read over at BGR, RIM is about to release its first QNX Phone which won’t see the light of day until Q1 of 2012. The phone has since been codenamed the Blackberry Colt, it is said to be powered by a single-core processor plus it is also said that the Colt will not support for current BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) versions.

QNX is a commercial Unix-like real-time operating system, aimed primarily at the embedded systems market, this means no Blackberry OS 7 or 8 but for the first time the company will be using an OS that wasn’t initially developed by RIM.

According to reports, RIM is still working on QNX version of the BES so we just have to wait and see what will be coming at us in early 2012.
