In addition to its announcement of the Kyocero Hydro-Edge heading to Boost Mobile and Sprint, the Korean manufacturer has also launched another durable smartphone from its Hydro-line, the Kyocera Hydro XTRM.
Like every other handset in the Hydro-Series, the XTRM is also meant to be resistant to life’s challenges, however it comes with a much thinner body and they have added a bit more style. The Hydro XTRM comes with Military Standard 810G certification to withstand drops, IP57 for dust resistance, and can survive in up to 3.28 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. Other than its ability to survive conditions that other smartphones will not, it comes equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, it has a 4-inch WVGA display and 1GB of RAM.
“Where the Hydro XTRM makes is mark is in small areas like the Smart Sonic Receiver which transmits sound through vibrations pumped directly to the eardrum. Voice clarity is better in noisy environments because you don’t rely on a speaker pushing sounds to the ear. SSR feels slightly strange at first, but the benefit to people who are often in noisy environments and wish to be heard almost immediately overshadows the change in feelings.”
U.S. Cellular will be getting the Kyocera Hydro XTRM and has already started selling online, the XTRM will also be available in stores starting tomorrow May 24 for $29.99 after instant rebate.
