Boost Mobile has decided to make the Kyocera Hydro-Edge Smartphone available to their customers, mostly likely because the original Kyocera Hydro was a success for them. The Hydro-Edge is also a rugged smartphone that protects itself from harmful elements such as water and dust.
It comes equipped with a 4-inch touchscreen display and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The Hydro Edge is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and it uses smart it receiver technology to improve its audio quality in noisy environments. So if you should accidentally spill a glass of water on this smartphone, you don’t have to worry about buying a new smartphone.
Other specifications of the Hydro Edge is a 5-Megapixel rear camera that features led flash as well as the ability to record video. It will be offered by Boost Mobile on a pre-paid plan that goes at $55 monthly with unlimited nationwide talk, text and picture messaging. There’s no details on how much the handset will cost overall, but it could be in the $100 range.
The new Kyocera Hydro will also be available from Sprint which will be most likely on a 2-year-contract and probably offered for free or for a minimal price in the $80 range or less.
