Samsung’s newest Galaxy flagship was recently unveiled at the unpacked event, the Galaxy S IV (S4) (GT-i9400) Smartphone. It comes with the same features as what was leaked previously, it gets a huge 5-inch Super AMOLED display plus it gets a design that looks similar to the Galaxy S3, but slimmer and a bit taller.
The Galaxy S4 also runs Google’s latest update to the Android platform, version 4.2.2 which also uses the Jelly Bean moniker. It comes with the world’s first Full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen which measures 4.99-inches, protected by Corning’s new Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 441ppi pixel density. It gets a smart feature that allows the user to operate screen control without the need for a finger touch.
There’s the Smart Scroll that let the front-facing 2-megapixel camera detects your face and automatically scroll the browser or emails up and down, simply by looking in the direction you want it to scroll. The Smart Pause will pause video playback when you look away and starts again when you are back.
The Air View allows you to hover your fingers to preview the content of an email, image gallery or video without having to open it, and with Air Gesture, you can control music playback, scroll up/down a web page, or accept a call with a wave of your hand.
Hardware specifications of the Galaxy S IV includes Samsung’s 8-core Exynos 1.6GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, however on some markets the handset will be powered by a 1.9 quad-core processor. It will be available in three different models which includes; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of internal space plus it supports microSD cards up to 64GB. In addition to its slew of touchless smart features, it also get the essential features such as Bluetooth 4.0, and WiFi 802.11ac for high-speed wireless Internet, there’s Near Field Communication, 4G LTE support, plus GPS/GLONASS and MHL are also included.
The Galaxy S4 will seem more attractive to fitness enthusiasts than its older brother as it comes with a health monitor feature called the S Health software, it features built-in sensors that will automatically monitor your health and your surroundings as well. It also features advanced cameras such as a 13-megapixel main camera and the 2-megapixel front-facing camera which are both capable of recording high-definition videos. It has a Dual Camera function that allows you use both cameras at the same time plus it also provides users with 8 different ways to combine the two photos taken by the two cameras.
Samsung plans to release its new flagship Galaxy S4 on the global market next month, it will debut on the U.S. market on the top four carriers; AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless plus pre-paid carriers such as US Cellular and Cricket will get it later. The next-generation handset will be available in Mist and White Frost color options, and we are most likely to see other colors afterwards.
