In addition to its newest handsets, the Z10 and Q10 that takes a detour from the BlackBerry smartphones that customers have grown accustom to, Research In Motion also announced that it will be renaming the company to the brand that it is mostly known for, BlackBerry.
Research In Motion CEO, Thorsten Heins announced that it will change its name to BlackBerry in order to reflect the strength of the name that consumers know. “We make BlackBerry, we work for BlackBerry,” Heins told the audience.
“RIM” will transition to becoming BlackBerry in name of its operating system, product, and company. The effort will be made to unite all activities under the brand most familiar to consumers.
