Verizon Motorola Droid Android 2.0 Phone
The Motorola Droid Android 2.0 Phone is finally available at Verizon retailers across the United States. The Motorola Droid Smartphone is the first to be powered by Android 2.0 (Eclair) OS. As in our previos highlight, the Motorola Droid features a 3.7-inch Touchscreen display with a 854×480 resolution, a 5 Megapixel auto-focus camera with Dual LED flash, and a side-slide QWERTY keyboard.

It supports GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. The Android smartphone includes Google Mobile Services, including the latest Google Map Navigation Beta application. The DROID is equipped with Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, ambient light sensor as well as eCompass.

It will be available on 6 November for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate) with 2-year contract.

There is a 2.36-inch 16 million color display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with video recording, a front camera, integrated GPS, QWERTY keyboard, 11MB internal memory and a microSD card slot. It also supports quad-band GSM and 3.5G WCDMA/HSDPA networks and has WiFi Coonectivity too.

HTC Hero Getting Google Android 2.0 Update

HTC Hero Android 2.0
HTC has confirmed that they will be updating the HTC Hero to Google’s latest OS, Android 2.0. At the moment they are working on integrating their Sense UI into the update with Android 2.0.

“Yes, we are working on an Eclair update for the HTC Hero. Because Eclair is a significantly enhanced release, it will require some time to update Sense for this new version of the Android OS. Please be patient while we work to provide you with a tightly integrated experience like the one you are already enjoying on your Hero.”

There are no details as yet when Google Android 2.0 will be available for the HTC Hero, and how it will be rolled out via the different carriers.

Google recently released a new free application for Google Android-enabled smartphones, it is the Google Maps Navigation App. It is compatible with any Android Powered Smartphone, it works like any navigation system that you may have used and features turn by turn directions which are powered by Google Maps, Google Voice recognition and Google Street View.

Google are also working with Apple, to bring the Google Maps Navigation to the Apple iPhone, although the process involved on getting it on the iPhone is slightly different that a simple submission to the App store, as Google’s current Map application comes bundled with the iPhone.

Motorola’s Droid/Sholes is probably one of the most awaited Android smartphone. It turns out, the Droid is the brand name Verizon’s Android lineup and the second model will be the HTC Droid Eris (aka HTC Desire).

As stated by engadget, the HTC desire will be marketed as the Droid Eris and will be released on 6 November while Motorola’s Droid will marketed simply as Droid. The HTC Droid Eris features a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel camera, a microSD card slot and support for CDMA EVDO 3G.

It also has a monchrome OLED external display, Bluetooth support, plus a built-in FM tuner and GPS receiver.

The Sony Ericsson Equinox Clamshell Phone will be available in Amber, Sapphire, Beryl, Diamond, and Amethyst. It supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual band HSDPA 2100/1700 networks.
